Day 12: sun flare

sun flare in my garden

I really struggled with this photo thanks to a lot of clouds and being very unsure of changing the aperture, speed, etc. I think this photo was a bit of luck and learning. I am pretty proud of it though. :)

Day 11: silhouette

silhouette of the other half

This photo really pushed me to learn more about the camera. I wasn't sure about the photo challenge when I first started but it's a nice way to get in a habit of taking photos and removing them from the camera. I really hope to continue using our 'fancy' camera more often. We've had it for almost a year now but I never really learned the features past auto. I'm still an amateur for sure. :)

Day 10: animal

my 'animal'

As ferocious as he looks in this photo he was actually yawning and would hardly look at me for a photo. He is my first baby and is completely spoiled. Most days you can find him around my house sleeping somewhere quiet and comfy, waiting for the kiddo to feed him, or chasing her and 'sharing' her toys. He is the sweetest and laziest 'animal' I know and we love him.

Day 9: fresh fruit

mango and strawberries

Tonight after dinner we had a simple dessert of fresh mango and strawberries. I am not a huge fan of fruit but the kiddo loves both of these fruits and it's a quick healthy dessert.

Day 7: high angle

my blog-spot

This is where I currently blog from when I can find a quiet moment. My 'mousepad' is the book I am currently reading, Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom. I actually wanted to climb on the roof to take the high angle picture but ultimately had to settle for my dresser.

Day 6: books

the Kiddo's favorite book and "lovies"

the Kiddo's book collection

The Kiddo has a LOVE of books! This chair is where we do story time each night and where I rock the Kiddo to sleep. This isn't her entire collection since they are all over our home and in the car but it is the majority. We have been collecting them since before she was born and then continuing to collect them along the way. I started reading to her everyday at about two weeks old. In the beginning she just stared at the pages and listened to us read to her. Now we read a book to her each night and then she reads it to us by pointing out the pictures or just quietly looking at the pages.

The first photo is ABC by Dr. Seuss, the most requested book of the collection and completely memorized. The bunny and blanket are her "lovies" that she sleeps with every night. The bunny was given to her by a dear friend as were the blankets. We actually have a collection of about six blankets that all lay in her bed but we switch out depending on the weather.

Day 5: breakfast today

my favorite mug and homemade blueberry donut

We decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather this morning and pick blueberries at a local orchard. I decided to also pick up some of their homemade blueberry donuts on the way out. So I got lucky this morning and had my usual coffee in my favorite coffee mug and a fresh homemade blueberry donut for a late breakfast.

Day 4: clouds

streaking of clouds

a familiar but welcome site

I had trouble today not only getting a photo of the clouds but also picking just one. I really love the blue sky and the streaking of the clouds in the first photo. The second photo happened purely by chance. As I was outside tonight this plane was flying over my house in preparation to land. Each time I see and hear a plane coming in I like to think of the families that will be reunited, even if for only a short time. Planes are such a familiar and some times comforting site in our home.

Day 3: hands

tagged and waiting

I have gone back and forth all day on posting this photo but it kind of sums up my day. This was taken while I was waiting to have some tests done at the local hospital. I also feel a little strange when they place these bracelets on and yet I always forget to remove them as well. This is the third time I have gone through this testing but the first time alone. I don't know if it is something to worry about yet so I haven't shared much in the years that this has been an issue. I know this is all very vague but it is all still a mystery to myself as well.

Day 2: your favorite shoes

no shoes

I'd be lying if I posted a picture of a pair of shoes and told you they were my favorite. I own very few shoes and usually only shop for them when needed. I prefer not to wear shoes whenever I can so my favorite shoes would be no shoes at all.

Day 1: self portrait

My self portrait today and five years ago.

Blogging and Photo Fun

I've been feeling rather crafty and creative lately and doing more things for me, which is a huge deal in my world of mommyhood. I've also really needed an excuse to start blogging again. I was inspired by a friend who has a lovely blog and just started a little "photo fun". I'm hoping it will be a nice excuse to get me back to blogging and allowing me to be a little creative. Feel free to join in, follow along, or leave me feedback as I jump back into the world of blogging. :)
